Long commute times, bad traffic and high fuel prices are all facts of modern life. Add to this mankind’s ever-increasing carbon footprint and the threat of global warming, and you will begin to see why car sharing really is a good idea.
While many people opt to car-share with a neighbor, a family member, or a friend, this is not always possible. Another alternative is to use a new kind of car sharing such as that offered by companies like Flexcar.
This is one of the most innovative ideas to emerge in the transportation section in quite some time. Flexcar has a fleet of cars in a number of metropolitan areas around the United States. Very often, there will be a Flexcar vehicle available just minutes from where you live or work. You can use this car for hourly rates and return it to its designated parking place. The hourly price you pay includes insurance, gas and up to 150 miles travel.
Basically, you join Flexcar and you can reserve the class of car you want from a location that suits you online or on the phone. You also specify how long you want the car for. You make your way to the location of the car and return it when you are finished using it.
Not only is Flexcar sustainable and good for the environment, it is also affordable with rates starting at about $5 per hour or $50 per day.
